the largest waterfall at the gardens is set further back

alongside the Japanese tea house there is a small stream of water and several small waterfalls.

Located in Downtown Phoenix, tucked between Margaret T Hance Park, nestled between downtown office buildings and a high rise condo and on the top of I-10, Ro En Friendship Garden is surprisingly a tranquil place to unwind.

The gardens are small, but you will be instantly transferred to another place. When you enter you will quickly forget you are in the middle of the city.

Don't forget to buy some Koi food at the entrance to feed the fish, especially if you are travelling with young children. The Koi here are very hungry and entertaining to watch when they are fed.

The first thing you'll notice when you enter is sculpture and the wide meandering paths. We naturally veered right to the bridge where we had a great view of the Koi fish. Following the small bridges across the pond we veered right. We visited in mid March and most of the plants were budding, but not too many things in bloom.

To your left you will notice a small waterfall and a nice sitting area. If you continue straight you will cross a small river to the Japanese Tea House.

Photos on this page were taken in the month of March.
