Beavertail Prickly Pear Cactus

 

The flattened oval shaped pads of this cacti resemble a beaver tail hence the name. You will not find thorns on this plant, but it protects itself with tiny barbed bristles that are painful to remove from the skin. These are beautiful when in bloom as they welcome spring with a large pink blossom
