Growing Lantana in Phoenix, Arizona

lantana

It seems that people either love or hate lantana. Lantana is a very common sight in Phoenix gardens and landscape.

Lantana comes in various colors including purple, yellow, white, and red. They can grow in a trailing mound or as a small shrub. Lantana is a small strongly-scented flowering groundcover or small shrub.

Butterflies are attracted to it and it is a good trap for white flies. Native to South America and Africa, Lantana is hardy in Phoenix. It grows about 1 foot high and several feet in width. We always had a lot of the purple and yellow lantana in our yards, but in our current home we took the yellow lantana out and put in 'Desert Sunrise' which is both orange and pink.
