This was one of those plants that I purchased on a whim. It is nearly impossible for me to go to a nursery without buying something and this showy plant was just the kind I was looking for to fill in a low space.
Delicate lilac blue flowers are bursting in full color in mid January, what is there not to like about that?
The Peruvian Scilla is great for a low border flower. Only 8" tall and 6" wide it doesn't take up much space but it is very showy. Not actually from Peru, this plant is native to it is a native of southwest Europe. When Carolus Linnaeus described the species in 1753, he was given specimens imported from Spain aboard a ship named Peru, and thought that the specimens had originated in the country of Peru.
Blooms in January and Feburary.
